Shadowseekers
Shadowseekers are dark creatures. They are immortal and live on the psychic energy of mortal dragons, or blood. There are also hybrids, that can live on both but are less strong. Shadowseekers always have dark scales, with white outlines, no matter what color they had when they were mortal dragons. Their belly and wings will have the same color of the majority of their scales were before they got turned into a Shadowseeker. If a Shadowseeker is born instead of turned, they have any color wished for the belly and wings. Eye-color can be any color wished.
With the world immortal, I mean that Shadowseekers have an unlimited lifespan. They can feel pain and they can get killed, though it is a little hard for them to die. Small wounds will heal incredibly fast, but bigger wounds will take about three quarter of the time it would take for mortal dragons to heal. They can't die by hitting their head on a hard stone, they can't drown because they only need air for talking, and when they get struck by lighting they will be a little coaled for a while, but they will usually survive just fine. They are very vulnerable to fire and psychic powers, though. And they definitely have to worry about height, cold and freezing temperatures, and getting encased into a crystal.
Even if a dragon is turned by a Rogue, this doesn't mean they have to turn into a Rogue. A dragon can become any species. Post in this thread to have an indication of what species your dragon would become if they were turned.
Shadowseekers that have been turned will stop aging from the moment they become Shadowseekers. The transformation can happen instantly or take three days, it depends on if you want to role-play the changes or not. Shadowseekers that have been born will age until they are teenagers or juveniles/adolescents, again this depends on what you want. They can't age to adulthood or older, though.
There are several species of Shadowseekers, though all species (except for Purebloods) will become Purebloods when they die:
- Oldblood
The highest species of Shadowseekers. Purebloods that have taken ten souls from mortal dragons, which gives them their physical bodies. They are unbelievably strong, can summon storms and thunder, and Black Waves. They are immune to all elements except Purple Fury and Dragon Time, but they are very vulnerable to psychic powers. They can open a portal to the Void and survive there without any side-effects. They are infertile their entire lives.
Though you may also role-play Oldbloods freely, keep in mind that they are rare, and that being so strong and evil will tear them apart inside. Many Oldbloods kill themselves because of their insanity.
Please PM a staff member if you want your character to be an Oldblood.- Pureblood
Purebloods are the spirits of Shadowseekers. They are locked in the Void and can only come out at night. They don't have a physical body, so physical attacks don't hurt them, but they are very vulnerable to any kind of elements and psychic powers, weak or strong. They can also summon thunderstorms, but no Black Waves. They have to take ten souls before they can get their physical bodies back and exit the Void by daytime. When they're on Earth in daylight they won't survive. Their spirits will be burned away by the sun. They are infertile and can't even mate, because they have no real bodies.
You can role-play a Pureblood freely. Keep in mind to explain how they became a Pureblood in their history, though!
You may also use a Pureblood as NPC in your thread!- Silverblood
A Silverblood is a Shadowseeker that has a close connection to the moon. They can draw energy from the moon instead of mortal dragons, if they prefer. You can distinguish a Silverblood by the white aura-like glow it has around its body at night. Or, if you get close enough to cut it, by its silver blood. Silverbloods are by far the nicest species of Shadowseekers, and most peaceful. They are often said to be prophets of the moon. They are immune to psychic powers, because their minds are shielded.
Silverbloods are seen as the dragons that stand in 'both worlds' with one paw. They are the Keepers of the balance between Light and Darkness, often having violent pasts behind them.
Silverbloods can reproduce with their own species and mortal dragons. They often get only one egg, though.- Newblood
A physical Shadowseeker. They are physically stronger than mortal dragons, and can produce strong winds (even if they didn't have the Wind element before coming a Newblood), though no storms or Black Waves. Newbloods will always stay Newbloods, no matter how many souls they take or lose in their lives. Vulnerable to elements and psychic powers. They can reproduce, but they often get only one or two eggs, and birthing is generally dangerous for the females.
You can role-play Newbloods finely. no restrictions.
Newbloods can only reproduce with their own species and mortal dragons. They can't reproduce with Rogue's.- Rogue or Vagrant
A Rogue, or otherwise called Vagrant, is the lowest species of Shadowseekers. They can't make any storms and are only slightly less vulnerable to elements and psychic powers, They are quicker than mortal dragons and have better senses, such as sight, sense of smell etc. They will stay Rogues their entire lives, can reproduce finely and can get up to three eggs per pregnancy.
Rogue's can only reproduce with their own species and mortal dragons.
Shadowseekers can have Soulmates, but only if they've been a mortal dragon in their lives. If they were born Shadowseekers, they won't have Soulmates.
A mortal dragon is turned into a Shadowseeker only when the Shadowseeker intends in doing so. The transformation will instantly happen and barely hurts. The bite stings, because a Shadowseeker releases poison when turning a mortal dragon.
The inspiration for Shadowseekers came from this story. I tweaked it around a little bit, so the Shadowsuckers and Shadowseekers aren't the same creatures. Still, I give SpyroroxThe2nd credit for the Shadowseekers/Shadowsuckers.
