Return of the Midnight Shadow(Open)

It certainly had been some time since she had come this far back into the Dragon Realms, much of her time spent far off from the major parts of the realms. Nyx wasn't sure what the place was exactly but if she could recall it had been near something known as the Ebonic Mountains or something of that sort. She had been in isolation, recovering from that last darkness that had tried to make a grip on the world and choke it to it's will. That had been the Dark Master, Malefor but now she had been hearing of a new threat upon her home in the form of Shadowseekers.

Already the dark blue-violet colored dragoness had come across them a few times but had held her own. It was after that the elder decided it was time she no longer hid away while the world suffered yet again. Now here she was, wandering the realms far and wide to handle any problems that might have turned up. She also was seeking old familiar places that she could be of use to anyone but found herself still desiring to see other places more than others so Nyx never stuck around long.

Today, this happened to be part of the Valley of Avalar. Nyx had not been there for quite some time, yet it still was beautiful as ever like Twilight Falls which she had passed not too long ago. The elder dragoness, although she really didn't look much at all aged, finally came to settle by the bank of where three rivers met and deciding it might be a good place to rest. Letting out a soft sigh of relief as she landed and folded in her wings Nyx crouch slightly as she watched the water go by, content just to stay there for a little while to relax yet becoming away that she wasn't alone.

flying across the sky of the lovely realm of Avalar, a dragon-like humanoid being flew through the cloudless air. with the warm wind brushing by her body as she flew, she enjoyed the scenery as she traveled. as she made several aerial flips and enjoyed the flying, she forgot to keep her senses open to danger. before she knew it, a large dark figure came up behind her. opening its mouth wide, she realized just in time she wasn't alone.

turning quickly, she grabbed its jaws as it grabbed her. plummeting quickly towards the joined three rivers, she struggled against the larger dragon. not knowing about Shadowseekers, she fought against its attempt to bite into her. suddenly, the water met with their bodies, making them crash into the gentle waters. as they sunk underneath, she was able to momentarily get free. swimming towards the surface, she was grabbed by the ankle with its tail. dragging her down with it, she was unable to get its tail off of her. as the air was burned up from her lungs, her sight began to fill with blinking stars. mustering up the concentration to summon one of her swords, she cut its tail off, making it roar in pain under the water. swimming frantically to the surface, she broke the surface and gasped for air. swimming to the shore, she crawled onto the bank, gasping for air.

At first Nyx hadn't noticed the draconic humanoid some feet above her, and actually didn't take notice of the skirmish going on until she saw shadows upon the gentle flowing waters. Frowning with puzzlement the elder dragoness glanced upwards in time to see a Shadowseeker and an unusual looking dragon-like being struggling in a free fall causing her to stand immediately. But she wasn't quick enough to react when seeing the two slam into the waters and making her turn her head slightly as some water splashed upon her. And it seemed the struggle continued beneath the waters but she could exactly see what was going on.

For some time it seemed like the fight might eventually run it's course to one of them drowning before the dragon-like being came up first and gasping for air. Though Nyx realized the Shadowseeker was coming up as well which meant she had to move fast. Crouching as she waited until the large corrupted dragon flew from the water she snarled and lunged forward, tackling the brute to the opposite bank and attacking the first vulnerable spots she could reach, though she knew this being would only heal quickly. Nonetheless, she struck at it's underbelly, growling as it for a moment pinned her but got a painful slashing of her back claws and kicks before being blasted in the face by a stream of midnight blue-violet colored flames eventually forcing it to retreat for now.

Quickly back on her feet, Nyx made sure to watch the area as she moved over to the being to check to see if they were injured. "Are you alright?" She asked, stopping beside the other female.

hearing the skirmish behind her, the Dragonborn tried to stand while she continued to take in deep breaths. collapsing as her body demanded more air, she heard the flames and the scurry of claws. hearing the female voice, she opened her eyes to gaze at the dragoness. gazing up the body as her eyes made their way to the face of the dragoness, she noticed the midnight blue-violet scales that adorned her body. looking upon the females face, the Dragonborn finally spoke, "i will be, thank you. fifth time today that i have been attacked, and every time i have been distracted by the enjoyable scenery of this place." taking several more deep breaths, she slowly tried again to get to her feet, unsteady as she was forced to sit down.

"It's best you don't stand after a fight under water like that, looks like your body needs some time to relax before that can happen." Nyx told her as she sat back on her haunches getting a better look at this dragon-like being. It intrigued her a bit since this was the first time she had seen the likes of a Dragonborn, making her wonder where such a kind of dragon came from. But the time to ask questions would be later since it seemed this young female was exhausted and obviously unsteady. Which was why Nyx advised her not to move much more.

Glancing at the scenery the midnight blue-violet dragon nodded slightly, showing she agreed it definitely could be distracting. "Sometimes hard not to get distracted by this place, it's quite a sight to behold from the air and sometimes it's easy to just want to get lost in a peace of mind." She agreed before looking back at her. "But I am assuming you've been attacked by these shadowseekers, they have become quite common across the realms so it doesn't surprise me the number of times you were attacked. Nonetheless, it seems to have taken it's toll on you physically." She observed, recalling times when she came across several Shadowseekers in such a short time and guessed Avalar wouldn't exactly be safe from that either.

"i thank you for your concern, but your right, i need to rest," the Dragonborn said, laying back with a slight grunt. noticing that the dragoness was intrigued about her, she decided to wait until the dragoness made the first move. "yeah, the toll has taken a bit out of me, but i have been able to get this far on sheer will. but to be honest, i think i'm close to my limit on that too," she said, chuckling as she looked around. "would you happen to know of a place for shelter? i don't feel like being out in the open with when i can't even get to my weapons in this state," the Dragonborn asked, the runes that spanned her body glowing much fainter then normal.

Observing the runes on her body seeming faint Nyx nodded, knowing quite a few places around there that could serve as a shelter. "Indeed I do young one, there are many places Avalar seems to hold that can serve as a good spot to hide and relax. In fact..."Nyx stood then, turning on the spot for a moment to see where they were before seeing the three waterfalls that flowed into two different streams was close enough to help. Turning back to Akrina she gently helped the Dragonborn onto her back, seeing she might have trouble getting there herself.

"Hold on," She said before taking flight, taking a short flight towards the caves that were on higher ground and far more difficult to get to for some dragons unless they were about her size or much younger dragons. Luckily even in her old age she could fit into places some dragons could not and easily landed on the ledge before folding her wings and walking in far enough to avoid detection but they could still see the light that flooded in from the opening. "It's not much but it'll keep us safe." She assured the Dragonborn, gently helping her down from her back.

letting the dragoness place her on her back, Akrina closed her eyes as her body nearly made her fall asleep. hearing her, the Dragonborn opened her eyes as she was helped to the ground. "thank you again. i haven't felt this weak and useless since i first came to this world," she said, as her arm twitched slightly. unfolding her wings enough to lay comfortable, Akrina looked to the ceiling, her gaze going to the dragoness in the corner of her eye.

"Your quite welcome, anything to help a dragon or dragon-being in need." Nyx told her as she glanced at the Dragonborn, still having some concern if the young female was alright considering how tired she seemed. But some rest could go a long way for some so she moved to a spot nearby, being the first obstacle between anyone who entered the cave and the weakened Akrina. If the Shadowseeker showed up again or many more at least she would be a first line of defense and this cave was a one way in and one way out, so too many at once just wasn't possible.

Sure it wasn't the greatest of places to maneuver and all but Nyx didn't need that really. She'd meet any threat head on this time should such an occasion arise. For now though she lied on her belly facing forward, head resting on her paws as she kept her honey amber eyes fixed upon the entrance but listening closely if Akrina needed help or if something was approaching.

closing her eyes as the dragoness laid down at the entrance of the cave, Akrina breathed in deeply as she let her body go fully limp. trying to calm her mind to get some rest, the Dragonborn found it near to impossible to calm her racing thoughts. turning her head to the midnight blue-violet dragoness, she opened her eyes. "would it be okay if i knew your name? i am Akrina Darktalon," she spoke, deciding to interact with this dragoness then stay quiet.

Lifting her head to look back at Akrina Nyx nodded slightly, "It's nice to meet you Akrina Darktalon, my name is Nyx Leilani but some have called me the Midnight Shadow as well. But your welcome to just call me Nyx." Nyx introduced herself, having thought to let the Dragonborn rest but it seemed she was unable to at this moment so she shifted a bit to better face the dragon-like being for a time. "Also, if you do not mind me inquiring Akrina but what exactly kind of dragon are you? I've never seen anyone like you before." Nyx inquired, showing her curiosity again but wondered if Akrina was going to answer when she seemed so exhausted.

smiling at how friendly this dragoness was, the Dragonborn nodded when Nyx gave her name. when she inquired about what kind of dragon she was, the smile faded from Akrina's face as she turned her head towards the ceiling. "i don't mind. its not surprising that you haven't seen one like me, since i am the only one of my race in this world, as far as i know. i am not from this world, and my home is gone forever." pausing as she turned back towards the dragoness, a small tear came to her eye. "i am a Dragonborn. in my world, we are like dragons, and were believed to have been conceived by the dragons gods, Tiamat and Bahamut. but, i am different, because of my captivity by monsters," she finished as she closed her eyes.

As before Nyx listened but frowned when seeing the smile fade, though she didn't interrupt as Akrina explained she wasn't from this world making the older dragoness wonder where she was from then. Another realm perhaps. There could be quite a few the dragons didn't know of but she could imagine it wasn't easy for Akrina to be more than likely the last of her kind. That had to be difficult to deal with and there was really no way Nyx could comfort this poor Dragonborn.

"I'm sorry to hear of your loss young Akrina, but I assure you here you are likely to start anew. Not everyone is like those Shadowseekers out there or utterly evil, there are some as kind as me in this world and hopefully this can be a place of a new beginning for you." Nyx told her softly, hoping to cheer her up even the slightest bit but even this might not help. There was only so much sympathetic words could do.

listening to Nyx's words, Akrina blinked the tear away. smiling at her, the Dragonborn nodded at her. "i have met some kind beings in this world, though not many here. i thank you for your sympathy, but there is only so much that can help me, since shackles still bind my life," said, turning to the ceiling. glowing faintly across her body, the strange green runes pulsed slightly with her heartbeat. suddenly, they pulsed brightly, then Akrina began to breath heavily, clenching her teeth as she knew what was happening.

"I know, words can only do so much." Nyx agreed, knowing this herself as she didn't know what she could really do to help the young Dragonborn. But when she noticed the runes on her body pulse brightly all of a sudden the midnight blue-violet colored dragoness couldn't help wondering what was going on. But seeing Akrina's sudden tense of body and clenching teeth Nyx knew immediately something wasn't right, usually that was a sign she was in pain or something was making her tense. "Akrina, what's wrong?"She asked as she was quickly on her feet.
